The Final Countdown

… will not be on our wedding reception playlist.   I can tell you this because we are 99.9% through creating it and gathering the music onto a playback device.  We’ve got music for the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and the dance portion of the evening. The audio equipment and mike have been rented.  The dress is ready.  The tuxes are on order.

We’re spending Easter eating Reeses peanut butter eggs and tying off loose ends, such as writing a blog post with an update of all we’ve been up to lately.

For those of you staying at the Marriott, there will be a shuttle from the hotel to the wedding and reception (and back again, of course).  The shuttle leaves at approximately 5:30, and will make a second trip if needed.

We’re so excited to be seeing you all in a few days.  There’s not much better than enjoying good food and music with your favorite people!

Wedding Invitations

By now you should all have your wedding invites!  When the paper we had decided on was out of stock, we ended up with a new design at the last minute that came out beautifully.   (Thanks to Mike Pfister Design!) I’m not quite sure what the post office was up to, but they all mailed from the same post office at the same time.  Despite that, some people got an invitation the next day, while others received theirs a week later.

Alison and Herb get Schmoopy for the Camera

Our photography package includes an engagement session, which we did in January.  Our photographer just posted some of the pics to her blog.  Check ’em out here.  WARNING: Content may not be suitable for viewers with low tolerance for cuteness.

Hotel Deal of the Week

Brian says:

“We booked a room at the Mount Vernon Hotel for Thurssday-Sunday. It was 80 bucks a night after taxes.  We booked through Expedia.  Not sure how nice the place is, but for a room downtown for that cheap we will chance it. I read that there is a parking garage across the street and it is around 15 bucks a night to park your car. ”

Did YOU find a good deal?  Please share!

Getting Fashion Obsessed

I have found an online toy that makes me feel 13 again.  It is called Polyvore, and it lets you clip fashion images from around the web and assemble them into a collage.  My friends and I used to do this by clipping from magazines and pasting into notebooks.

Book Your Hotel By March 1

For those of you who would like to book a hotel room for the wedding, please consider booking within the hotel room block we have reserved.  The room block goes away in March; make your reservation by the end of February!!

We have CHANGED our room block, after visiting our original pick.  You should now book at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront.  The name is important, as there are multiple Marriotts in the area. You will need to mention the Chandler McNew Wedding when you call.

Baltimore Marriott Waterfront Room Block
700 Aliceanna Street
Baltimore, Maryland 21202 USA
Toll-free:  1-800-228-9290
15 rooms available
Single King or Two Double Beds: $179/ night, plus tax
$25/ day parking

Call the 800-number and reference the Chandler-McNew wedding to get the discounted rates.  If you find that there are no more available, please let us know.  The rate above is a SIGNIFICANT discount over their normal rates.  There are plenty of places to walk to for good food, etc.  A cab ride from here to the wedding will run you about $8.   This hotel is on the water taxi route, if you would like to tour the Inner Harbor that way.  Do not rely on it to get you anywhere quickly.

A second option might be to stay at the

Scarborough Fair B&B
1 E Montgomery St, Baltimore, MD 21230
410-837-0010 or toll free at
Rooms are $209 to $259 per night

Parking: One spot FREE

If you cannot afford to stay in the city, you may look into alternatives such as renting a property or staying out by the BWI airport or Arundel Mills Mall.  Make sure it is worth your trouble — you will end up being about 20 to 30 minutes by car from the action.

We don’t really recommend staying here. 🙂

This hotel is NOT within walking distance, of well, anything.
The best view is of the expressway.
If you STILL want to stay here, I still have the room block.  Info below.
Holiday Inn Express Baltimore at the Stadiums
1701 Russell Street
Baltimore , MD 21230
410-727-1818/866-481-1818 toll free

Single King: $129 plus tax
Double Queen: $139 plus tax
Parking: $10/day

Caterers, Flowers, Favors

cookie Today Herb and I went to Baltimore, where it snowed and people drove too fast and crashed into each other. Also, we tasted lots of yummy food for the wedding. As a parting gift, we got cookies shaped like wedding cakes from one caterer, and a free keychain shaped like an engagement ring from the other (which I politely declined).
flowers Then we went to a florist and talked about bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages, and the snow. Our free gift there was a mini bouquet.
favors This weekend I also started in on planning decorations and favors. Here’s a photo of one of my beautiful creations. Please note, you are NOT getting Lindt truffles– they just happened to be the right size to play with.

Bridesmaid Dress Selected

The Gap dress wins for affordability and color. Plus, it’s one of the few styles that is going to fit on different body types. We’re making progress, slowly but surely!
